With the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), charging has become one of the most important concerns of car owners. Choosing the right EV Charger and the correct use of EV Charging Connectors affects charging efficiency.
1, How to calculate charging time?
Under ideal conditions, charging time can be estimated by the following formula: Charging time ≈ battery capacity ÷ charging power
For example, an electric car with a battery capacity of 60kWh, if you use a household charger with a power of 7kW, it takes about 8.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100% (60 ÷ 7 ≈ 8.57).
Currently, DC fast chargers are mostly used in public places, with a common power of 120kW or 180kW. These DC EV Chargers can charge an EV with a large amount of power in about 30 minutes, which is suitable for high-speed service areas, shopping malls, parking lots and other scenarios. In contrast, AC EV Charger is mainly used for home use, such as AC Slow Charger with 7kW or 11kW power, which is suitable for night-time charging.
It should be noted that the actual charging time will slightly deviate due to the influence of temperature, vehicle system and battery status.
2, Charging pile power is not the higher the better, the key in matching
Quite a lot of car owners in the choice of charging pile, often blindly pursue "the higher the better the power", in fact, this is a misunderstanding. Reasonable matching of vehicle and charging pile performance, in order to achieve a safe and efficient charging experience:
2.1 Vehicle charger compatibility: some models only support 220V single-phase AC charging, and cannot be adapted to three-phase 380V high-power pile
2.2 Vehicle maximum charging power: if the vehicle itself only supports 11kW charging, even if a 22kW charging pile is installed, the speed cannot be increased
2.3 Electricity environment limitation: whether the power supply system of residential neighborhood supports three-phase meter is an important prerequisite for installing high power charging pile
Therefore, when choosing an EV Charger for home use, you should first confirm the vehicle parameters and home power distribution capacity to avoid the embarrassment of "high matching but low use” or equipment that cannot be installed.
3, Battery Care: Prevent over-charging and over-discharging, and reasonably plan the charging frequency
The key to prolonging the service life of power batteries is to develop good charging habits. Suggestions:
3.1 Control each charge in the 20%-90% power range
3.2 Avoid depleting the battery to 0% or maintaining 100% full charge for a long time
3.3 Even if the vehicle has not been used for a long time, it should be recharged regularly to prevent the battery from losing power
3.4 Try to use reliable quality EV Charging Connectors to avoid electrical faults caused by poor contact
3.5 Turn off the air conditioner and car multimedia system when charging to reduce the load on the battery caused by charging and using, and reduce the risk of heat generation
4, High temperature will significantly affect the battery performance and charging safety. Hot summer, it is recommended:
4.1 Try to choose shady areas or covered charging spaces to avoid direct sunlight
4.2 Turn off the vehicle and let it stand for 10 minutes before starting charging, which will help the battery temperature fall back
4.3 Keep an eye on the heat generation of the equipment during the charging process and ensure good ventilation
4.4 High-quality EV Charger is usually equipped with temperature monitoring and overheating protection, which is an important guarantee to enhance the safety of use
